Apple Pie

For the Pie/Tart Base:
Flour | 280gm |
Corn flour | 20gm |
Salt | 3gm |
Icing Sugar | 110gm |
Butter | 110gm |
Milk (Keep some milk aside to adjust the dough) | 45gm |
Lemon Zest | Optional |
For the apple filling:
Apples (Peeled and deseeded) | 3 |
Butter | 50gm |
Cinnamon Powder | 2 tsp |
Brown sugar | 100gm |
Vanilla sponge small pieces (to make the mixture stiff) |
Preparation
For the Pie/Tart Base:
- Process all the dry ingredients and medium soft butter together in a mixing bowl by using the paddle attachment.
- Once everything mixes together, add milk to achieve a smooth dough. Give it some rest.
- Make tart shells by using tart mould and keep it aside.
For the apple filling:
- Combine all the ingredients except for the sponge and heat up until the apple cooks well.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla sponge.
- Mix everything together.
Pie Making:
- Fill the tart base with ¾ apple mixture and cut long strips of tart dough placing it in a criss cross way.
- Apply some milk wash (optional) on top and bake it at 190 degree celsius for 15-20 mins until it becomes a golden brown colour.
- Serve the Apple Pie Warm.
